Cameron is a development worker, working across a variety of projects within the Scottish Commission for Learning Disabilities (SCLD). He is currently supporting Include For Good, SCLD’s programme for change, which is led by eight Rapporteurs who are all adults with learning disabilities.  The goal is to change attitudes and make Scotland a more equal place where people with learning disabilities are seen, heard and supported to live their best life. They are currently working with NHS colleagues to develop a set of hospital standards for people with learning disabilities.

Cameron also plays an important role in Scottish Learning Disability Week, supporting the engagement and outreach work to promote the campaign. Scottish Learning Disability Week is a national campaign held annually in September. It aims to celebrate people with learning disabilities while highlighting the barriers they still face in Scotland today and works towards a more inclusive Scotland for people with learning disabilities. Cameron draws on his own lived experience as well as his professional network to help make the campaign a success.

As well as his role in the campaign, Cameron supports the organization with participation and engagement meetings and events and is particularly interested in how lived experience expertise can help shape systems and decision-making.

Cameron is a Board Member with Thera (Scotland) and uses his expertise to advise the organisation on the different aspects that need to be addressed. Cameron is excited to bring his professional and lived experience to the GLE Council to help further its work.
